All Points East 2023 – A Kip Guide

August really only means one thing in East London…All Points East festival, which takes place right around the corner from us at Kip Hotel! Even if you’re not going to the festival itself, there’s loads going on in and around the festival, so here’s the Kip guide to All Points East 2023.

Who you can expect to see…

All Points East takes place over two weekends towards the end of August, from 18th-28th, and if you’re going to be there, then already you will know that the lineup is UNREAL. If you did need a little reminder of who you can expect to see there, then let’s break it down for you…the weekend kicks off with Stormzy (who, btw, is hosting a whole day takeover at All Points East this year), other headliners include, The Strokes, Dermot Kennedy, and Jungle, as well as, Raye, Nia Archives and Erykah Badu. Chuck away your crutches, drink your electrolytes, grab a beer and get yourself to Victoria Park, to experience a London festival in all of its true glory!

Get involved in some cute neighbourhood activities…

From the 20th-23rd of August in celebration of All Points East, there are a bunch of activities taking place all around Hackney, the perfect way to feel involved in the festival even if you aren’t planning on going. There’s a real range ‘bits n’ bobs’ to get involved in, if you’re feeling more wholesome then try out some pilates and movement classes on offer, feed your mind with some of the talks and workshops going on, and if you’re looking for some proper inspiration then you must check out ‘Some Voices’ choir. A pop-up outdoor cinema is also amongst the many treats in store across these few days, showing Black Panther, I Am Bolt, and many more!

Make sure you’re fed and watered…

Of course we want you to be hydrated and nourished, ahead of your All Points East trip, and considering we are based in the heart of Hackney, you could say we know A LOT about keeping you fed and watered local to the festival. A short walk from the festival, but not too close that it takes you 5 hours to order a drink, is Broadway Market where you can find a real range of independent restaurants and bars, all with a super great buzz, as well as this there’s Mare Street Market, another iconic East London spot, the espresso martinis and pizzas are a must, and there’s also a super chic restaurant with a very impressive range of chandeliers…if you fancy a more civilised sit down before the festi! And yes, you guessed it right…we do love a market. Hackney is also know for some proper authentic London pubs, the Lauriston, located in Victoria Park Village, right next to All Points East, is a gorgeous one to try out, the atmosphere is always warm and friendly, and Victoria Park Village is always a must see if you’ve never been before, it’s as cute an kitsch as it gets for Hackney.

How to get there and where to stay…

All Points East is one of the very few festivals which isn’t an actual nightmare to get to. There’s plenty of access via the Underground and Overground; Mile End (Central, District, and Hammersmith & City Line), and Bethnal Green (Central Line) are the easiest Undergrounds to use, just a short 10-15 minute walk, and Cambridge Heath & Bethnal Green Overground are a similar distance. Of course it would be rude for us to not invite you to come and kip with us, at Kip Hotel, we’re an easy walk to the festival and have a real range of rooms depending on what vibe you’re going for. If you’re headed to the festi with a bunch of friends, going solo, or fancy treating yourself to a slightly more luxurious room, we’ve got you covered, just view our hotel rooms here for more info/to book.

Whether you’re headed to All Points East or not, Hackney is a great place to be during this time, the atmosphere is great, people do actually smile at each other (despite what you’ve heard), and even if the weather is rubbish the bars, pubs, and markets all still have very sunny vibes!
