The Hackney Half Pint – Pubs To Check Out During Hackney Half Marathon

This weekend is a very special one in East London, it’s Hackney Half Marathon time! The Hackney half is taking place this Sunday (21st), as part of Hackney Moves festival which falls on the last day of mental health awareness week this week. At Kip, we have a huge amount of respect and admiration for those running, but we’ve also got to look after those not running, and with that we give you the Hackney Half Pint…a list of pubs around Hackney that you can have a beverage in during and after the marathon!

The marathon starts at Hackney Marshes and goes through iconic locations, such as, Broadway Market, Mare Street Market, and crosses over 12 canals and rivers. So, that’s A LOT of pubs covered, but we’ve narrowed it down a little to help you & your liver out.

Pub On The Park

An ICONIC option, especially around this time of the year when it’s warm and sunny (or should be.) Pub On The Park is quite literally on London Fields park, it’s in the heart of all of the marathon action, and has loads of outdoor seating giving you stunning views of all the blossom trees dotted around London Fields. It’s one of those pubs that you’ll go to once, and then never stop going back. They also do take away drinks, so you can grab an Aperol and take a stroll around the park if you fancy being wholesome.

The Cat & Mutton

Pub grub, beers on tap, and right at the top (or bottom) of Broadway Market. The Cat & Mutton is always buzzing with an overflow of Broadway Market goers, and seeing as the half-marathon literally takes place on Broadway Market you’ll have a front row seat to all of the action, and will be able to cheer on the runners…half-pint in hand.

The Haggerston

The Haggerston is the SPOT to check out up-and-coming djs, listen to Jazz on a Sunday, and enjoy a real East London vibe. Funnily enough it’s in Haggerston…so very much in the heart of Hackney, which means, during Hackney Moves festival it’s going to be even more vibrant than usual!

The Lord Napier Star

If you love a New York in the summer type of vibe, then get yourself over to Hackney Wick this weekend, it’s Hackney’s home of street art, warehouse parties, and tons of canal-side bars. The Lord Napier Star is ‘the’ pub to be at if you’re in Hackney Wick, covered in street art from the outside, and full of eclectic souls inside, the orange wine is also a MUST!

The Lauriston

Victoria Park village is one of the more family-oriented areas of Hackney, but the marathon action will still be very much alive there. The Lauriston is probably the most well known pubs in the area, it’s pretty lovely to look at, and has a super friendly energy…also, who doesn’t love a village-type pub in the middle of London?

Wherever you decide to Hackney Half Pint, the energy is going to be impeccable in Hackney this weekend, so get involved, enjoy the sunshine (hopefully), and cheer on our half-marathon heroes!
