Discover Summer Gems in Hackey - Kip Hotel London

Hackney Summer Gems

Summer is coming! We see it, we feel it, we hear it… Not sure if you can actually hear it, but we’re feeling optimistic. With that in mind, we thought it fitting to update you on where you should be spending your summer days in East London. So, without further adieu, here’s our list of Hackney Summer Gems…

Mangal II
Established in 1994 in Dalston by aspiring Istanbul chef, Ali Dirik is our first gem. It’s hands down one of the most delicious, vibrant spots to taste Middle Eastern food in Hackney. The menu is both modern and reflective of the restaurant’s past, using the charcoal cooking method. From the outside, it looks super lowkey. But, as soon as you step inside the energy is warm and atmospheric. The smell wafting in from the kitchen literally makes you want to order everything on the menu. Talking of which, the menu changes seasonally. Right now we’d recommend the oysters, tahini squash, and any of the fish dishes, plus a cheeky glass of orange wine. Top it all off with the summer sun shining through the windows for the perfect summer afternoon.

Hunter S
Seeing as we’re on the topic of orange wine, the Hunter S pub in Dalston is another elite spot. When the sun is shining in Hackney, there’s no better feeling than sitting outside with a chilled glass of vino or an ice-cold beer. If that’s your idea of a great time, get yourself down there! We understand that some people are against a roast in the summer. But at Kip, we ALWAYS want a roast. If you’re with us on that one, then the Hunter S roast is a must. Whether you’re vegan, veggie, or meat lover, it’s got you covered. Then, it’s all topped off with their famous gravy, truly chef’s kiss. After a few drinks in the sun, and hydrating with lots of water, of course, you may want to take a trip to the bathroom. We aren’t going to give too much away, but the artwork is very easy on the eye 😉

NT’s Loft
For Hackney locals and tourists, this is a must when it comes to summer drinking spots. Right in the heart of London Fields, with views all over East London, is THE spot for summer Aperols. It’s also a place to discover both established & up-and-coming DJs with regular music nights throughout the week and weekend. Simply check out their Instagram or Website to see what’s what.

Netil Market
A summer staple literally 30 seconds walk from NT’s loft, is a cosy East London market. It’s home to the community radio station, Netil Radio, the best bagels you may EVER taste. There’s even an independent natural wine shop, ideal for al fresco sunshine drinks. During the weekend, the vibe there is immaculate with live radio blaring beautifully through the speakers. With an eclectic mix of people trying an eclectic mix of food and drink, it’s the definition of a Hackney summer vibe.

So, that’s it, our Hackney Summer Gems, all wrapped up into one glorious sunny bundle…you’re welcome!
