Summer is here! What's on in Hackney this Summer

Hellooo summer, you have arrived, you are beautiful and we love you…just not when you’re 40 degrees and nobody in London has AC. Anyway, we digress. Summer in London is the very best, people actually smile at each other on the street, everyone's skiving off work to go to the park (aside from us at Kip of course…), and the festivals are very much happening! We want to give you the lowdown on what’s happening in Hackney this summer, think outdoor cinemas, festivals, and some cute comedy nights. 

Festivals in Hackney

Festivals are of course a MUST, and Hackney has some of the very best out there. We’ve narrowed it down to our top two. First up is of course, the iconic, Field Day in Victoria Park (a short walk from us at Kip). The energy at Field Day cannot be matched, with several elaborate decorated stages, tasty snacks and of course all the drinks. Some of the main acts this year include Peggy Gou, The Chemical Brothers, and Artwork, it’s also a great place to discover artists you might not have heard of before. fielddayfestivals.com Up next is Maiden Voyage, last year Maiden Voyage was set up in a magical forest, it was like being in a trippy version of A Midsummer Nights Dream, with some of the best house music you’ve ever heard. This year the lineup features incredible South Asian DJs, Ahadadream and Yung Singh, as well as Floor Plan, and loads more.  maiden-voyage.co.uk

Screen on the Canal

Not quite Hackney, but close enough, is the film on the canal festival in Kings Cross. A beautiful location right outside of Central St Martins and right on Regents Canal, with a summer drinks cart, and a big screen playing a real eclectic mix of movies. You can watch Wimbledon, old time classics like Matilda and Singin’ In The Rain, as well as some great family films like Peter Rabbit and Beauty And The Beast. It’s a real experience and one you definitely don’t want to miss.  More info here

Love Shack

To finish off we’ve got Love Shack, super close to Bethnal Green station, is a safe haven that feels a little like you’ve entered a yoga retreat/are in Bali, which is of course ideal summer vibes.
