KIP, Getsome Kip, and KIP Hotel is the registered trademark of Baxter (Opco) Limited (the “Company”) which is the operating company of KIP Hotel.
ABOUT KIP HOTEL:
We need good kip like we need food, water and free wi-fi, but we don’t think that a stylish, comfortable hotel bed should cost the earth. That’s why we came up with the Kip concept – hand-crafted, monochrome interiors, and a range of accommodation to suit every need, from live/work accommodation through to holiday-makers and families, couples, groups and singles, out-of-towners and London locals. Kip Hotel is on a mission to bring the world of style and service without the silly price tags. Based in central Hackney, London, we love the vibrant, buzzing community that exists here. This is why we decided to do this giveaway – we want to give back to the community, support artists and give you the opportunity to have your artwork seen by millions of people without paying anything for it!
We are going to select five winners, and pay for their winning art work to be installed on the side of KIP Hotel, on a five storey building immediately at the entrance to Hackney Central Overground Station. The wall is split into individual panels, with four per floor, and each winner will have a floor with the art being in place for at least one year.
The artist must be UK based. There is no age requirement. The theme of this competition is “connection”. The artist must create a new piece in relation to this topic, this can be one individual piece or 4 different pieces, one for each panel. The artworks submitted can be a painting, a design, a poem – provided it is designed to ensure it can be blown up to fit the sizing of the panels. However, when creating the piece the artist does not have to produce it to the exact sizing of the panel.
The artist may not reuse a piece already created. The artist will have to pay for their own material to enter the competition, but we will pay to have their artwork enlarged and put up on our wall.
Please include your full name, age, address, email and title of your artwork with your submission. The artwork can be submitted online via firstname.lastname@example.org – if you want to send it via post contact us first. To be eligible for this submission, your artwork must be submitted no later than the 31st May 2021.
The winners will be chosen by host and presenter, Talina Naviede and a selected team of judges. The judges shall be appointed by KIP hotel in such number and of such qualification as it sees fit at its sole discretion. The Judges’ decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into. All works will be judged anonymously and there will be no segregation by area, genre or style etc. 5 winners will receive 4 panels each for a single floor of KIP hotel. We will announce the competition winners in June. 8-12 weeks after that the artwork will go up for the world to see! This time frame is subject to change based on COVID guidelines or unexpected difficulties. We will pay to have the artists’ artwork enlarged, printed and put up on our wall. Winners do not have to travel to have their artwork put up but are welcome to do so – Covid permitting.
Prize is as stated and not transferable. Artists will have the opportunity to have their artwork seen by millions of commuters and their artwork will be kept on our hotel wall for one full year minimum. Each artist will receive 4 panels each. Each panel measures 2.374m height x 2.572m length, once we enlarge your artwork, it has to fit into these panels. The artwork sent in by the artist can be as small as they want, however Kip will be blowing up the work to match these length – height relations.
